The Colorado Rapids have been in contact with attacking midfielder Stefan Aigner of 1860 Munich, team spokesman Ryan Madden said Monday.
Aigner, 29, was linked in a move to the Rapids by German news outlet tz.de on Friday, but Madden told The Denver Post that no deal has been finalized.
Aigner, a 6-foot, 161-pound winger, scored three goals and one assist for 1860 last season.
He is believed to be on the move from his German side due to turmoil in the club. 1860 dropped from Bundesliga’s second division to the lowest professional league in Germany and now faces possible dissolution due to reported mismanagement by the club’s new majority investor, Hasan Abdullah Ismaik.
