Rapids' home start is perfectly superb

COMMERCE CITY — It's hard to believe a game in early March could mean so much. But if you ask Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni, Colorado's season turned in the 95th minute of the home opener.

The Rapids were seconds from a scoreless draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy when a failed clearance fell neatly to Colorado's Marco Pappa, who buried it for the game-winning goal.

"I showed it to the guys — we didn't change anything. We didn't hurry. We didn't send guys forward. We didn't bomb forward," Mastroeni explained. "It was a buildup out of the back.
