The Colorado Rapids lost 1-0 to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday in the opening leg of the Western Conference semifinal at StubHub Center.
Los Angeles Galaxy striker Giovani dos Santos scored on a shot that was deflected in by Rapids center back Axel Sjoberg. Galaxy center back Jelle Van Damme picked up the assist on the play.
With the loss, the Rapids will need to win by a two-goal margin at home next Sunday in order to advance to the Western Conference final.
