COMMERCE CITY — The Colorado Rapids haven’t won a Rocky Mountain Cup since 2015 and barring a miracle, they won’t win the competition in 2020. Real Salt Lake pounded home four unanswered goals to beat the Rapids, 4-1, in their return to Colorado.
The Rapids hadn’t played a home game in 168 days and they have not beaten their rivals since 2017. It’s the second time in their last four matches that the Rapids were trounced by RSL.
A good first half by the Rapids was overshadowed by a disastrous second half. The Rapids were caught on the back foot for the final 45 and were both outmatched and cost themselves with mistakes.
