ENGLEWOOD — The Rapids’ best defender is back. Well, almost.
There’s no guarantee Tommy Smith will suit up with Colorado hosts Sporting KC on Sunday at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, but it’s not out of the question.
Smith, who has missed this year’s first two games with a knee injury suffered during preseason training, returned to practice Tuesday.
“We need to see how he is,” coach Anthony Hudson said Tuesday. “Like a large number of our players, he didn’t have a good preseason, he missed a large portion of it. Tommy hasn’t had a full 90 minutes yet so we need to see physically where he is at and if he’s ready for Sunday.
