The Colorado Rapids’ young core was already starting to receive buzz prior to MLS All-Star Week in Orlando, Fla. Cole Bassett sped up the hype train some more on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old Colorado midfielder scored the game-clinching shootout goal as the MLS Homegrown All-Stars defeated the Chivas U-20 team 3-0 in a tiebreak.

Rapids defenseman Sam Vines also scored in the penalty kick shootout, which followed a 2-2 draw in regulation.
“It’s nice that the Colorado boys took two of the three shots,” Bassett said in a phone interview from Orlando.
