The Colorado Rapids have acquired a natural second-round pick (No. 24 overall) in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft from Atlanta United in exchange for an international roster spot for 2017-18.
The deal was made during a three-hour MLS trade window Sunday, which closed at 10 a.m. MT.
“We believe this trade provides good value for our club and one that will help us continue to execute our plan for roster development in the offseason,” said Rapids president Tim Hinchey.
The Rapids traded away their first-round pick (No. 20 overall) in March for midfielder Jermaine Jones.
All clubs are scheduled to release their protected player lists Monday in advance of Tuesday’s MLS Expansion Draft.
