An 83rd minute tally from substitute Brek Shea gave the Vancouver Whitecaps FC a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Friday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Alan Gordon got the nod at center forward for the second straight game, while Shkëlzen Gashi was inserted into the starting lineup for the first time in over a month. Additionally, goalkeeper Tim Howard returned to action after serving his three-game suspension.
With less than 10 minutes to go, the Rapids were caught up the field and a quick counterattack by the visitors ended with a streaking Shea all alone with only the Rapids keeper to beat.
