An 89th-minute strike from the returning Marco Pappa secured all three points for Colorado Rapids against Chicago on a record-breaking night at a sold-out Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The victory means Pablo Mastroeni’s men lead the Western conference and the Supporters’ Shield with a record of 9-2-4. That is the earliest the Rapids have achieved 30 regular-season points in franchise history.
However they had to work hard for the victory this evening. After a forgettable first half, Rapids took the lead when Kevin Doyle thumped home his third of the season following a defensive mix-up by Chicago.
