Colorado Rapids battled their way to a second successive 1-0 home win on Saturday evening.
Having beaten LA Galaxy in their opener at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Pablo Mastroeni’s men added the scalp of Toronto FC thanks to a goal from Luis Solignac after 18 minutes.
The Argentine striker collected Marco Pappa’s chipped pass and gleefully slotted home his first goal for the club. The strike came five minutes after Toronto midfielder Benoit Cheyrou had been dismissed after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession.
Rapids tried to find a second goal but, when they were not thwarted by former keeper Clint Irwin, the woodwork got in the way.
