And so the sun sets on the 2016 Desert Diamond Cup this Saturday, with a final fling for the Colorado Rapids against a second USL side in the shape of local hopefuls Arizona United S.C. (6:30 P.M. MT).
To date, Arizona United have been held 0-0 by Swope Park Rangers KC, before overcoming FC Tucson 3-1, on the same night that the Rapids were succumbing 4-1 to Sporting Kansas City.
They are led by a man with bags of MLS experience, first as a player and then as a coach, in the shape of Frank Yallop. After a lengthy playing career with Ipswich Town in England, Yallop played three seasons with Tampa Bay Mutiny, from 1996-98.
