Jermaine Jones' goal gives Rapids win over Real Salt Lake, best record in MLS

COMMERCE CITY — It was pretty much everything a soccer fan could want this early in the season: Two ornery rivals squaring off not only for possession of the Rocky Mountain Cup but the best record in Major League Soccer, too. And it did not disappoint.

The Rapids scored moments into the second half Saturday night and held on for a hard-fought 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The win kept the Rapids perfect at home (5-0) and in contention for the Rocky Mountain Cup. They also took sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.
