COMMERCE CITY — Robin Fraser knew what buttons to press in the Rapids’ season opener Saturday.
Going into the match, Colorado’s head coach planned to make a change up front, subbing in Nicolás Mezquida for Younes Namli 60 minutes in for conditioning purposes. That move paid off right away as the Rapids equalized moments later.
While some coaches might’ve protected for a draw at that point, Fraser opted to further supplement his attack with his final two substitutions.
“We have some good attacking players we know can give us things,” said Fraser, who was named the MLS Coach of the Week on Monday.
