Tonight was big for two reasons: it was Tim Howard’s last home game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (possibly his last game ever as he’s been dealing with a hamstring injury) and the Colorado Rapids were fighting to squeak into the playoffs. FC Dallas were sitting in 8th place just below the playoff line with 45 points, while the Rapids were in 9th place with 42 points. The Burgundy Boys absolutely needed a win tonight to stay anywhere close to in the running.
But the beginning of the night was all about retiring goalkeeper, Tim Howard.
