The Colorado Rapids’ request to allow fans to attend home matches at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park was approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on Friday.
Officially the club can let in 1,165 fans (6% capacity) as soon as next week, with upcoming matches scheduled for Wednesday and Sunday, Sept. 27, though it’s unclear when fans will initially be allowed to attend.
Fans have not been allowed in the stadium since the club’s final home match before MLS play was halted March 7.
“For the past several months, the club has been working closely with local health authorities and government officials to develop a plan to safely host fans at our stadium again,” Rapids executive Padraig Smith said.
