Over the past weekend, the Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified Team visited Salt Lake City, UT, playing against Real Salt Lake’s Special Olympics Unified team on Friday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.
Prior to departing for Salt Lake, the team received some devastating news about their teammate, Jason Horton. Horton was re-diagnosed with cancer in his chest and would be unable to travel and participate in the team’s last match of the season against Special Olympics Utah.
The team wanted to honor Horton while on the road, so they had wristbands created that say “#KeepFighting” on one side and “Jason #12” on the other.
