Shortly after the announcement of defender Michael Edwards, the Rapids announced another Homegrown signing, this time being US U-17 winger Dantouma “Yaya” Toure (dan-TOO-ma TOOR-ay). After acquiring his rights from the New York Red Bulls, Toure joins Colorado on a four-year contract with a club option for two more seasons, and is the fourth Homegrown signing in two days.
Before signing Toure to his contract, the club sent $50,000 of General Allocation Money (GAM) to the New York Red Bulls to acquire his Homegrown rights. If Toure meets certain performance-based thresholds, the Red Bulls will get additional GAM.
