The Colorado Rapids have signed Scotland international center back Danny Wilson from Glasgow Rangers to a three-year deal with a club option for a fourth year, the club announced Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Danny’s signing is an important addition to our back line,” Pádraig Smith, the Rapids executive vice president and general manager, said in a statement. “In addition to his experience and leadership, Danny is in the prime of his career and will be one of the best passing center backs in the league.”
The addition of the 26-year-old defender helps to fortify the Rapids’ central defense, where they plan to play three center backs this season as they transition to head coach Anthony Hudson’s 3-5-2 system.
