The Colorado Rapids on Monday announced the 11 players the club has protected ahead of Tuesday’s Major League Soccer Expansion Draft.
Los Angeles F.C. will join MLS in 2018 and can select up to five new players from current teams in Tuesday’s draft. MLS teams can protect up to 11 players and can only lose a maximum of one player. Homegrown and Generation Adidas players are exempt from the draft.
The Rapids last month parted ways with eight players from their 2017 roster and as a result have only two players who are available to be selected by LAFC: Defender Mike da Fonte and midfielder Sam Hamilton.
