Since the Colorado Springs Switchbacks have been in existence, the USL team has met the Colorado Rapids in the MLS round of the U.S. Open Cup. In 2015, the Rapids eliminated the Switchbacks by winning 4-1, and last year, the Rapids won 1-0. And it looks like the two teams could meet again, if the Switchbacks can beat OKC Energy FC on May 31st.
The Switchbacks have home field advantage against OKC, and then the Rapids have home field advantage against the winner of that game. According to our local Switchbacks expert, Jason Smith, “there’s no reason they [the Switchbacks] should lose to OKC.
