Colorado Rapids announced today that forward Caleb Calvert has been loaned to Charlotte Independence of the United Soccer League (USL). This will mark Calvert's third loan stint with Charlotte after spending time with the USL club in each of the previous two seasons.
Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Calvert at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Calvert, 20, has appeared in 12 matches for the Rapids this season, including three starts. The Wrightwood, CA native recorded his first MLS goal in a road loss to Philadelphia Union on May 20, and his first assist on Alan Gordon's game-winning goal against the Portland Timbers on June 17.
