COMMERCE CITY — The Colorado Rapids hope to add defender Dennis Castillo to their roster soon, coach Pablo Mastroeni said Tuesday.
"Just awaiting some visa paperwork," Mastroeni said.
Castillo, 22, was the Rapids' second-round draft pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and has trained with Colorado ever since.
Originally from Costa Rica, Castillo would occupy an international roster spot, which the Rapids have available.
The 5-foot-10 defender played four seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning Atlantic 10 defensive player of the year honors in 2015. Castillo has played for Costa Rica U-18 and U-20 youth national teams and captained Deportivo Saprissa prior to going to college.
