Colorado Rapids hit the 40 point mark in record-breaking time

With Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the Colorado Rapids moved to 41 points from 22 games, to consolidate second spot in the Supporters’ Shield standings and to stick on the shoulder of leaders FC Dallas.

Since Major League Soccer began in 1996, the Colorado Rapids have only ever managed more than 41 points in total on eight occasions and, of those, two were in the years before ties were introduced (1996-99).

Also, with victory over Vancouver on August 6, 2016, the Rapids reached the 40 point mark at the earliest time of the year.
