Colorado Rapids extend unbeaten streak to eight games with win in Seattle

The Colorado Rapids extended their unbeaten streak to eight games with a gutty 1-0 win Saturday night over Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Rapids defender Axel Sjoberg scored his first career MLS goal two minutes before halftime, heading home a corner kick from defender Marc Burch. The goal came completely against the run of play, as Seattle (4-6-1) had 61.9 percent possession in the first half and increased that margin in the second half.

The Rapids (8-2-3) were happy to sit back and defend in the second half, but nearly doubled their lead on a counterattack in the 58th minute when a Luis Solignac shot skimmed the post.
