Colorado Rapids announced today that the club has traded Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Sarvas to D.C. United in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money and a conditional 2018 SuperDraft pick.
“Marcelo has been the complete professional during his time with the Rapids,” said Paul Bravo, Technical Director and VP of Soccer Operations. “We would like to thank him for his contribution on and off the field and wish him all the best with his new club.”
During his only season with the Rapids, Sarvas appeared in 25 matches (21 starts), registering two goals and one assist. The two-time MLS Cup winner rose through the ranks at his hometown club, Corinthians, in São Paulo before spending five years in Swedish football, as well as brief spells in Poland and Costa Rica.
