Colorado Rapids acquire goalkeeper Cody Mizell on loan from Charlotte Independence

Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that goalkeeper Cody Mizell has been acquired on loan from USL affiliate Charlotte Independence ahead of the 2017 Home Opener against the New England Revolution.

Mizell, 25, has been training with the Rapids during the team’s preseason stints in Boulder, Los Angeles and Tucson.

Last season, Mizell appeared in 10 matches for the Independence, registering 35 saves and a .778 Save Percentage. In 2015, Mizell started 20 games for Knattspyrnufélagið Fram of the Icelandic second division.

The Woodstock, Georgia native played three seasons at collegiate powerhouse Clemson University, before signing his first professional contract in 2013 with the Atlanta Silverbacks.
