Colorado kid Conor Casey, from Wash Park to the Rapids' Gallery of Honor

Riley O’Neill is probably a name few fans of the Colorado Rapids are aware of. He was selected by the Rapids in the third round of the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, on January 18, 2007.

He never played for the Rapids. Indeed, he never even signed for the club, but he played a huge role in the birth of a legend.

Three months after being drafted out of the University of Kentucky, the rights for Riley were traded to Toronto FC, along with allocation money and a third round pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. In return, the Rapids got a player who had managed 56 minutes in two substitute appearances.
