The Colorado Rapids USL affiliate Charlotte Independence defeated FC Montreal 1-0 on Saturday night, their fourth win and second shutout in a row.
Caleb Calvert, on loan from the Rapids, scored the only goal of the match after connecting with an Enzo Martinez cross early in the first half. This was Calvert’s third goal of the season, all of which have come in Independence victories decided by one goal.
“It’s really easy to find a groove when you have teammates like these guys,” said Calvert. “Credit Enzo with a quality cross, I can’t ask for anything better than that.
