The Colorado Rapids showed once again that a stout defense and opportunistic offense can win games in even the toughest environments. Riding a first MLS goal from Axel Sjöberg and a stellar defensive performance from Marc Burch, the Rapids defeated the Seattle Sounders 1-0 to bring their streak against the Cascadia side to three, with two of those victories coming away from home.
The offensive numbers from this game aren’t pretty – one shot on target from 10 – but the only stat line that matters after a game is the scoreboard. Where the attacking stats left much to be desired, the defensive stats picked up the slack.
