In a move that surprised almost nobody, the Colorado Rapids fired Anthony Hudson today.
The decision had been coming for some time. Hudson’s record as manager of the Rapids to this point was a dismal 8-26-9.
In short, The Anthony Hudson Era was not very long, and it was not very good.
His hiring in Nov. 2017 was part of general manager Padraig Smith’s rebuilding and rebranding efforts to move the team into a new tactical frame of mind. Before Hudson and Smith were in command, the Rapids had historically been a scrappy, low-rent team built on tough defense and physicality.
