With only nine games behind them and still three-quarters of the season left to play, the Colorado Rapids already look like a team careening toward disaster.
What do I mean by the words “careening” and “disaster?”
Take the image you have a tire fire. Now pan the camera away from the tire fire to an auto garage. Take a car, put it on a lift in the garage, pan back to the tire fire where a highly trained pit crew is rolling burning tires across the asphalt and over to the garage, then watch as they carefully place the burning tires on the automobile, lower it back down and push the car — flaming tires and all — downhill toward a steep cliff.
