The MLS is Back Tournament kicked off tonight and Black Players For Change made a powerful statement, lining the pitch and kneeling or standing with a raised fist for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time George Floyd was held on the ground by police.
The demonstration was organized by Black Players for Change (formerly the Coalition and representatives from each team were involved. Seven members of the Rapids participated: Kei Kamara, Lalas Abubakar, Kellyn Acosta, Collen Warner, Austin Trusty, Andre Rawls, and Head Coach Robin Fraser.
