Dave Logan thought he knew the stinking drill. Or at least as well as the college coaches who’d turned up over the decades to either pick his brain or curry favor: Yada begat yada, glad-handing, a few laughs, the usual Jedi mind tricks … followed by long, arid swaths of bupkis. The kind of silence you climb with a crampon and pulley.
Quality, Logan had seen plenty. It was the quantity new CU Buffs coach Mel Tucker brought to the table that blew his mind.
“He came down to where I coach and sat down with three of his assistants and spent two hours just talking football,” Logan, the Cherry Creek High football coach, said of Tucker.
