Washington women pull away for victory over CU

SEATTLE — For the third straight game, the Colorado women's basketball team kept their Pac-12 opponent within their sights on Friday night at Washington.

The Buffs just couldn't overcome a shaky start.

Falling behind by double digits shortly into their conference road opener, CU dropped a 68-58 decision to the Huskies for their fourth Pac-12 loss. Washington hit on 50 percent (16 of 32) of its shots in the opening half while CU shot 37.9 percent (11-for-29) to build a 39-28 lead.

While the Buffs were able to pull within six points of Washington early in the third quarter by scoring the first five points after halftime, the Huskies followed with an 11-3 run over the next 5 minutes, 20 seconds to gain enough of an edge to withstand anything else CU threw at them.
