University of Colorado, MacIntyre agree to contract buyout

The University of Colorado and former head football coach Mike MacIntyre have agreed to a buyout settlement that will pay him $7.238 million over the next two years.

MacIntyre, 54, took on the role of defensive coordinator at Mississippi after being fired before the end of last season on Nov. 18. According to the terms of the settlement, he will receive one lump sum payments of $3.542 million within the next week, and another of $3.696 million on Jan. 20, 2020.

The university saves nearly $3 million by initiating a buyout with MacIntyre, and will terminate the original amount of $10.
