DENVER—Mikaela Tommy was named the Women's Alpine Skier of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association by a vote of its coaches, the league announced Tuesday.
Tommy, a senior from Wakefield, Quebec, finished her senior campaign with five race victories and nine podium appearances in the 10 races she finished on the season. She finished six of seven GS races on the season with five wins and one second place performance. In heartbreaking fashion, she didn't finish the GS race at the NCAA Championships, the first GS DNF of her career, a race she was favored to do well in, if not win.
