The second year of the Deion Sanders era in Colorado started on a positive note.
The Buffaloes beat a strong North Dakota State squad 31-26 on Thursday to begin the year 1-0.
It wasn't the easy season opener Colorado hoped for, as the Bison went into halftime with a 20-14 lead. The Buffaloes stormed back with a pair of touchdowns to take a 31-20 lead into the late stages of the fourth, but North Dakota State answered with a touchdown to make it a six-point game with two minutes left.
The Bison put together a strong last drive in the final seconds but ultimately came up a few yards short on a hail mary.
