BOULDER — Jeromy Irwin was so sick in the week leading up to Colorado’s 49-24 victory over Arizona on Saturday night that he couldn’t keep any food down.
The hulking left tackle lost 12 pounds off his 291-pound frame, leaving the Buffaloes in need of another blindside protector for quarterback Sefo Liufau.
That senior Shane Callahan stepped in and performed so well didn’t surprise coach Mike MacIntyre. But it did make him beam with pride.
“I told Shane in front of the whole team how proud I was of him,” MacIntyre said. “He is a phenomenal young man.
