Erin Clark made her return to her hometown of Eugene, Ore., and the storied school that tried to recruit her, ready to race on Thursday in her first ever NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field championship.
The redshirt freshman's event, the 3,000 meter steeplechase, didn't go as well as she would have liked. Running in the first heat, she struggled to hang on with the main pack early and miscued on at least one hurdle and water jump. She fell off the back later in the race and finished eighth in Heat 1 in 10:15.
