While CSU played it coy announcing its starting quarterback, new CU coach Karl Dorrell went for the direct approach Friday — naming Sam Noyer his starter for a Nov. 7 lid-lifter against UCLA.
Although Noyer’s path to the starting nod has been anything but direct. Or linear.
The 6-foot-4 senior was switched from quarterback to safety under then-coach Mel Tucker last fall. Noyer then elected to graduate and enter the transfer portal in December 2019, moving back home to Oregon.
Given the shocking change at head coach, that might’ve been the end of the story.
