BOULDER — The late Rashaan Salaam, the only Heisman Trophy winner in state of Colorado history, was inducted posthumously into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Wednesday evening, with his mother, Khalada Salaam-Alaji, accepting the honor with an emotional speech that included some of the passages her son had written his in final note to the family.
Salaam took his own life on December 5, 2016, as the 1994 winner of the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back, the Walter Camp Trophy as the national player of the year and unanimous All-American in addition to winning the Heisman was just 42.
