Rashaan Salaam, CU Buffs' Heisman winner, found dead in suspected suicide, source says

The body of Rashaan Salaam, the University of Colorado's Heisman Trophy-winning running back who later played for the Chicago Bears, was found at Boulder's Eben G. Fine Park on Monday night in a suspected suicide.

The Boulder County coroner on Tuesday identified the body discovered the previous night as that of Salaam, 42, of Superior.

A source with knowledge of the investigation told the Daily Camera that Salaam's death is suspected to be a suicide.

"The Buff Family has lost an outstanding young man and a great Buff today," CU Athletic Director Rick George said in a statement.
