Around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2016, a man returning from a hike stopped in a bathroom on the south side of Boulder’s Eben G. Fine Park, becoming possibly the last person to see Rashaan Salaam alive.
The man didn’t know who Salaam was, but later told police he remembered him because Salaam, in a T-shirt, was not dressed for the cold weather — temperatures would drop to 27 that night — and seemed “out of sorts and out of place,” simply standing in the corner of the bathroom.
But they briefly chatted, and the hiker remembered the other man “had a great smile and was in good spirits.
