The Pac-12 probably isn’t done tightening the belt. And commissioner Larry Scott said Tuesday afternoon member schools, such as CU, could be forced to do the same within their respective athletic departments because of revenue shortages caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m hopeful it won’t happen, but it’s a possibility,” Scott told The Post in a phone interview Tuesday.
“There are different scenarios being examined, but it’s very hard to anticipate at the moment what the financial hardships will be for our campuses, as well as the league as a whole.”
The hardships to which Scott refers are financial fallout from national and regional social-distancing guidelines, which have effectively shut down college athletics, and campuses in general, since March 13.
