BERKELEY – Colorado women's volleyball gave it everything they had and took No.15 Cal to the wire in a five-set (25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 27-25, 16-14) 3-2 grudge match, eventually falling in the closest five-set match in school history.
The Buffaloes (8-10, 0-8 Pac-12) came back after going down 0-2 in the first two sets to force Cal (17-1, 7-1 Pac-12) to a fifth set where the teams were tied up at 14 all before the Golden Bears finished it with a pair of back-to-back points. The match will go down as the closest five-set match in Colorado history with just 11 total points separating the two teams, beating the previous closest mark of 13 in a win against Air Force in 2012.
