Nelson Spruce named to Maxwell Award watch list

Colorado senior wide receiver Nelson Spruce is coming off an historic season for the Buffs and it earned him a tip of the cap from the Maxwell Award on Tuesday.

Spruce was named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. The award is given annually in December to the best player in college football.

Spruce is likely to own every major career receiving record at Colorado by the end of September. He set CU single-season receiving records as a junior in 2014 with 106 catches and 12 touchdown receptions. He became only the seventh player in Pac-12 Confernece history to record 100 or more catches in a single season.
