Colorado football coach Mike MacIntyre was shocked to learn the news Tuesday morning of the sudden passing of former Air Force quarterback Dee Dowis, who was killed in a car crash in Georgia Monday night.
MacIntyre was a collegiate player at Georgia Tech at the same time Dowis was rewriting the Air Force record book in the late 1980s. While MacIntyre and Dowis never crossed paths, CU's coach has clear memories of Dowis' electric style that led to national headlines as the leader of the Falcons' triple-option, wishbone attack.
"I feel for his family," MacIntyre said. "I know the Air Force family will be down and he was an instrumental young man in Air Force football to say the least.
