BOULDER – University of Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre was named Thursday as the Coach of the Year by the Associated Press and the winner of the 2016 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.
MacIntyre received 109 points and 25 first-place votes from the AP college football poll panel, beating out Penn State's James Franklin in second with 98 and 16. Alabama's Nick Saban was third with 57 and 13.
Presented for a third straight year by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the FWAA/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award honors the top coach in the FBS as selected by the membership of the 76-year-old writers' organization.
