BOULDER — Ever since Addison Gillam arrived at Colorado in 2013, the tips of his long, unruly blond hair dancing on his shoulders, Mike MacIntyre has tried to point the linebacker toward a barber.
The Colorado coach ribs all his players with long locks the same way.
“He prefers the clean-cut look,” big-haired running back Phillip Lindsay said with a laugh.
Yet there Gillam was Saturday night, screaming up Folsom Field like a missile aimed at Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins. The golden strands escaping from the bottom of his helmet jetted back as Gillam closed, delivering a crushing blow that leveled Wilkins and forced him to lob a ball that was intercepted.
