BOULDER – The University of Colorado track and field program had a pair of alums run Sunday in the 2022 World Athletics Championships with Joe Klecker finishing top-10 in the 10,000-meter run and Gabby Scott advancing in the women's 400.
Coming off a 16th-place finish in the Olympics and a US Championship in the 10,000, Klecker immediately went to the front of the race and stayed there through eight minutes, even giving the world record holder Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda a little push for distance. The Americans found themselves bunching up fourth through sixth as the race began to be taken over by the Ethiopians.
